With Veterans Day right around the corner, the Oklahoma City School District is honoring some of Oklahoma's Finest.
A handful of Oklahoma City high schools recognized veterans Friday night. For a lot of them, it means a lot.
Ted Perry coaches the offensive and defensive lines at Heritage Hall. He is a Heritage Hall alum and a 2005 West Point grad who did two tours in Iraq, and was awarded the Purple Heart after taking a sniper's bullet in the shoulder.
"It's always heartwarming to know that Americans support the troops. Because it wasn't always that way," he said.
Friday night, any veteran who showed a military ID got in free to the games. And they were recognized at half time for their service.
High school football was a special time for anyone who ever played it. For Perry, he said it was the best time of his life.
