Marcus Smart Tabbed Big 12 Preseason Player Of The Year

Big 12 coaches tabbed Marcus Smart for Preseason Player of the Year on Thursday. Andrew Wiggins, Kansas' touted freshman is the Preseason Freshman of the Year while fellow Jayhawk Tarik Black was named Preseason Newcomer of the Year.

Markel Brown joins Smart on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. The two Cowboys are joined by Wiggins, Iowa State forward Melvin Ejim and Baylor's twin towers Isaiah Austin and Cory Jefferson. A tie in the voting created the six-member team.

Wiggins' selection to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team is unprecedented by a freshman. Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Marcus Smart; not a one selected to the preseason team by the coaches.
