OKC Man Found Guilty Of Murdering 3-Year-Old Girl

The verdict is in. An Oklahoma County jury finds Freddy Mendez guilty in the murder a 3-year-old little girl.

Jurors reached a decision Wednesday night, and recommended Mendez serve life in prison without parole.

Mendez was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Alexis Hawkins. She was rushed to Children's Hospital in October 2011, where doctors discovered she'd been severely beaten. She had bruises all over her body and severe head injuries, including a massive skull fracture.

Alexis' mother, Victoria Phanhtharath, testified against Mendez. She is already serving 35 years in prison for her role in the crime.
