OSU's Caleb Lavey has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week in the season's first round of awards. Shaun Lewis was the last Cowboy defender to win the award and that was in Week 8 of the 2011 season.
Lavey recorded 11 tackles, two for loss, and half a sack in Oklahoma State's 21-3 win against Mississippi State. It was the fewest points the Cowboys have held an FBS opponent to since a shutout of Oklahoma in 1995.
