President Obama Expresses Condolences To Family Of Slain Australian Student

President Obama expressed his condolences to the family of Christopher Lane, an Australian native gunned down in Duncan.

The President had been questioned, even by Governor Mary Fallin, for staying silent on the highly-charged killing.

When questioned by the national media, Governor Mary Fallin said "it would be a nice gesture for President Obama to respond to the murder of 22-year-old Christopher Lane."

It turns out the White House had already issued a statement.

The killing of Christopher Lane caused tremendous heartache and also much debate.

The random shooting out of alleged boredom by three teenagers has been compared by the national media to the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, a case civil rights leaders called a racially motivated crime.

Since President Obama made public statements about Martin's death, some have questioned why the president initially kept quiet about Christopher Lane's murder

On Fox News Sunday, Host Chris Wallace asked Governor Mary Fallin if she thought the President should offer condolences.

Apparently, the White House issued a statement before the Governor made the comment.

A White House spokesman released the following statement,

"As the President has expressed on too many tragic occasions, there is an extra measure of evil in an act of violence that cuts a young life short. The President and First Lady's thoughts and prayers are with Chris Lane's family and friends in these trying times."

A spokesman for Governor Fallin says since the Fox interview, she has spoken personally with Chris Lane's father to offer her condolences.
