An Oklahoma City man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his father.
Police say Jeffrey Canaday, 33, killed his father on July 23 in the home they shared in the 400 block of S.E. 55th Street. James Canaday, 57, was shot in the face and neck with a shotgun.

Several witnesses, including a neighbor and the suspect's brother, told police Jeffrey Canaday had threatened to kill his father many times in the past. James Canaday even reportedly told his other son that he was afraid of Jeffrey.
James Canaday's neighbor told police that the day before the shooting happened, James banged on her car window and asked her to call police. As James was yelling for help, the neighbor said she saw Canaday walking toward them with a gun in his hand.
The neighbor told Canaday that police were being called. Canaday turned around and walked back into the victim's house.

The neighbor said she heard gunshots on the day of the shooting. The victim was then found dead by police at his home.
Canaday fled the scene following the shooting. Around 6:20 p.m. July 25, police arrested him following a traffic accident in the 4700 block of W. Reno Avenue.
On Monday, Canaday has been charged with one count of first-degree murder.
