A trio of incoming Oklahoma State freshmen will participate in the 48th Annual Faith 7 game on Saturday at 7:35 pm inside the Noble Complex on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla. Stephen Clark will play for the Oklahoma All-Stars, while Jeffrey Carroll and Leyton Hammonds will compete for the Texas All-Stars.
Clark, a graduate of Douglass High School in Oklahoma City, is a two-time Gatorade High School Player of the Year for the state of Oklahoma as well as a two-time state tournament Most Valuable Player. He averaged a state-high 36.8 points and 13 assists per game as a senior in leading the Trojans to their fourth-consecutive Class 4A state title.
Carroll, a graduate of Rowlett High School in Rowlett, Texas, averaged 22.3 points and 6.7 rebounds as a senior last season, and was a first-team All-Region II selection in Class 5A. His 22.3 ppg led all area 5A players in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He led his squad to a 26-4 overall record, including a District 11-5A title with an 11-1 mark.
Hammonds, a graduate of Richland High School in North Richland Hills, Texas, was named first-team All-State in Class 5A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches after he averaged 20.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game as a senior in 2012-13. He led his team to a 21-10 record, including an 11-2 mark in District 4-5A.
Oklahoma State has been represented by 35 players in the Faith 7 game since 1981, including three players on four previous occasions (1986 – Chuck Davis, Royce Jeffries, William Woods; 1990 – Fred Burley, Scott Pierce, Randy Rutherford; 1996 – Joe Adkins, Estell Laster, Desmond Mason; and 2005 – Byron Eaton, Rodrick Flemings, Terrel Harris). Junior Michael Cobbins (2010) and sophomore Phil Forte (2012) are current Cowboys who participated in the Faith 7 game.
