Thunder forward Kevin Durant was named to the All-NBA First Team and guard Russell Westbrook was named to the All-NBA Second Team for the 2012-13 season, it was announced earlier today by the NBA.
Durant was named to the All-NBA First Team for a fourth consecutive season after becoming just the second player in NBA history to average better than 28.0 points while shooting better than 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 90 percent from the free throw line, joining Boston great Larry Bird.
During this past season, Durant recorded three triple-doubles while posting averages of 28.1 points (2nd in NBA), 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 38.5 minutes. The sixth-year forward from the University of Texas received 102 first place votes and finished 2nd in All-NBA Team voting after tallying 555 total points.
Russell Westbrook received All-NBA Second Team honors for a third straight season after securing 20 first place votes and 306 total points.
Westbrook registered the sixth highest scoring average in the NBA this past season (23.2 ppg) while ranking seventh in assists (7.4 apg) and ninth in steals (1.77 spg). During the 2012-13 season, Westbrook led the Thunder with 23 double-doubles while extending his regular season games played streak to 394 games, the longest current streak in the NBA.
The All-NBA Teams were chosen by a panel of 119 sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. The media voted for All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams by position with points awarded on a 5-3-1 basis.
