The Southwestern Oklahoma State University softball team hosted Cameron for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon, falling by scores of 6-1 and 6-5. SWOSU is now 6-16 on the year and 2-6 in GAC play.
SWOSU managed just four hits in the first game and Audra Chambless was the lone Bulldog with a multi-hit game and she also scored the teams only run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Julianne Martinez pitched a complete game and took the loss, falling to 5-8 on the year.
The Bulldogs did get some more offensive production in the second game, scoring five runs on four hits, including two-hit games from Johnna Smith, Chambless and Ashley Filer, but Cameron built a 6-3 lead in the top of the fifth that SWOSU could not overcome. Megan Ayala took the loss for SWOSU, dropping to 0-3 on the year, after allowing six runs, five earned, on 14 hits.
SWOSU heads on the road in conference play for the first time this weekend, playing four games at Southern Arkansas on Saturday and Sunday.
