Oklahoma City University knocked off Oklahoma Wesleyan 9-4 on Tuesday at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.
Chase Jensen, a senior from Arlington, Texas, drove in three runs to lead the Stars. OCU, ranked fourth in NAIA baseball, won its ninth in a row to move to 18-3.
Walker Davidson put OCU on the scoreboard by nailing a triple to center field in the first inning. Jensen added an RBI double, and Cody Ferrell put the Stars ahead 3-0 by socking a run-scoring double to right.
OCU extended its lead to 8-2 with a four-run fourth. Brayden Brumley and Davidson knocked in runs with doubles. Jonathan Rodriguez had an RBI single, and Jensen drove in Rodriguez with a sacrifice fly.
Jensen made OCU's advantage 9-2 with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly.
Ricky Spain picked up his first victory as a Star. Spain, a redshirt freshman right-hander from Norman, Okla., worked three hitless innings while striking out two and walking three. Chad Nelson, a freshman righty from Edmond, Okla., made his first OCU start, lasting four innings and allowing two runs on one hit and two walks.
Davidson, a senior from Berryhill, Okla., scored three times and drove in two runs in a 2-for-3 performance. Rodriguez, a junior from Anaheim, Calif., went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored on a wild pitch in the third for the Stars.
Ferrell, a senior from McLoud, Okla., went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jensen was 1-for-2 with a run scored.
The Stars take on 10th-ranked Oklahoma Baptist at 6 p.m. Thursday at Jim Wade Stadium in the Sooner Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
