OU's women's soccer team is getting used to playing double-overtime games, but that experience didn't pay off in a 2-1 loss to UNLV Friday night.
The game marked the third double-overtime contest out of OU's past four. Julie Owens broke the 1-1 tie to lift the Rebels to 2-2-1 on the season. The Sooners fell to 2-2-1 as well.
UNLV led 1-0 when Molly Richey scored the equalizer for OU late in the first half.
OU coach Matt Potter was disappointed and said his Sooners will have to collectively learn how to finish games.
"Our growing pains are clear for all to see and to not push on and perform in the manner we are capable is something we have to address together," said Potter. "We now have to recover and get ready for a difficult game against a winning NAU team. I'm confident our team will respond in a manner fitting its potential."
OU remains on the UNLV campus to take on Northern Arizona Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the Rebel Classic.
