A free health care weekend is planned at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds next weekend, August 25 and 26.
The Remote Area Medical Oklahoma volunteer corps will set up 50 mobile dental stations and about 16 lanes for eye exams, women's health care and general health referrals at the Oklahoma Expo Hall.
The event will be staffed by hundreds of volunteers including dentists, hygienists, dental assistants, optometrists, ophthalmologists and more. They will provide free dental care (cleanings, fillings or extractions), free vision care with glasses made on site, women's health care, counseling and more.
Patients should enter the Fairgrounds along 89ers Drive off N.W. 10th Street between May Avenue and Interstate 44. Volunteers will start handing out patient numbers at 3 a.m. Patients will begin entering the building at 6 a.m., and care continues through the afternoon.
Patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis regardless of income or immigration status. Bring a list of any medications you are on.
Patients are also encouraged to bring water and snacks as they may be in line for some time.
