Mike Hessman hit his 29th homer of the season in the third inning Thursday night to propel the Oklahoma City RedHawks to a 7-1 victory in Tacoma.
Hessman's two-run shot increased the RedHawks lead to 3-0, and the Hawks wouldn't stop there.
With two out in the top of the sixth, leading 3-1, Chris Wallace doubled home two runners to make it a 5-1 lead.
Those runs would hold up just fine thanks to a stellar outing by Jose Cisnero (W, 2-0) who pitched seven innings of one-run ball.
Andrew Carraway (L, 3-6) took the loss for Tacoma, allowing three runs (two earned) in only 3 2/3 innings.
OKC got a lift from some shoddy Rainiers defense, which committed four errors that led to four unearned runs.
The RedHawks road series in Tacoma continues Friday night at 9:05 p.m.
