The Oklahoma City RedHawks used two explosive innings Wednesday night to take down the Omaha Storm Chasers 10-5.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Brandon Barnes cranked a grand slam to left field to give OKC a nice 4-1 lead, but Omaha wouldn't quit.
The Storm Chasers tied it up in the sixth on Clint Robinson's RBI single, and took the lead in the seventh when Irving Falu hit a sacrifice fly to score Max Ramirez.
Then, in the top of the eighth, the RedHawks exploded again. First, Matt Dominguez doubled home two to take a 6-5 lead. Then Travis Buck singled in Dominguez to make it 7-5. Landon Powell followed that up with an RBI double to make it 8-5, and to cap it off, Brandon Barnes crushed a ground-rule double to make it 9-5 RedHawks.
Just for good measure, Fernando Martinez hit his 11th homer of the season in the ninth to finalize the 10-5 win.
Adalberto Flores pitched a scoreless 2/3 of an inning in relief, and earned his sixth win of the season. Tommy Hottovy took the loss for Omaha, also pitching 2/3 of an inning, but allowing five runs.
The series concludes tomorrow night in Omaha at 7 p.m. as OKC goes for its fifth straight win.
