RedHawks Erupt In Sixth For Lopsided Win

Oklahoma City appeared to have Monday night's game against Omaha under control early but the RedHawks went ahead and obliterated the Storm Chasers in the sixth inning to remove any question.

The RedHawks exploded for 10 runs in the sixth to propel them to a decisive 16-6 victory in Omaha.

Oklahoma City struck first in the second inning on a three-run homer by Brad Snyder and then tacked on another in the fourth when Snyder again smacked his second home run of the night over the wall to extend the lead to 4-0.

Omaha scored two in the bottom of the fourth to close the gap but then OKC caught fire in the sixth.

The scoring in the inning started on a Jimmy Paredes RBI single and then Fernando Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Brandon Barnes for OKC's second out.

Then with Matt Dominguez on the plate, consecutive wild pitches from Omaha's Roman Colon advanced Paredes to third and then scored him to take a 7-2 lead.

The woes continued for the Storm Chasers when a fielding error by the third baseman scored Brett Wallace for the second-straight unearned run of the inning.

OKC's Brad Snyder then connected on a double to center field, scoring Dominguez, followed by back-to-back RBI singles from Landon Powell and Brandon Barnes.

And if that wasn't enough scoring in the inning, Paredes finished things off with a three-run shot over the center wall to build a 14-2 advantage.

Omaha scored a token run in the eighth before OKC put the icing on the cake with two more in the top of the ninth. Omaha tacked on three more in the bottom of the inning.

The RedHawks finished with 16 runs on 20 hits. Omaha had seven hits and four errors in the loss.

The two teams will face off again Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in Omaha.
