The Oklahoma State Cowgirls' struggles continued Saturday, falling to the Missouri Tigers 5-3, their fourth consecutive loss of the season and their 15th of conference play.
The Tigers jumped out to a lead early in the contest, hanging four runs in the second and third innings. In the bottom of the second with runners on second and third, Corrin Genovese doubled to left field, bringing Kayla Kingsley and Brianna Corwin home to take a 2-0 advantage.
Missouri expanded its lead in the bottom of the third thanks to a two-run home run from Ashley Fleming, taking a four-run lead.
Oklahoma State tried to close the gap in the top of the fifth, thanks to a two-run home run from Gessenia DeLaCrus over the center field wall to cut the lead in half. Two walks and a single later, Julie ward drew a walk to bring Ari Morrison across the plate to close the gap to one run.
However, Lindsey Miller blasted a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth to put another run of safety between the squads.
Bailey Erwin (8-0) stayed perfect on the season, giving up three earned runs on five hits and striking out eight in her 4.2 innings of service. Kat Espinosa (15-12) pitched a complete game for the Cowgirls, but struggled, giving up five earned runs on five hits.
Oklahoma State will close out the regular season at noon Sunday, before heading into the Big 12 Tournament Thursday.
