A surveillance operation by Oklahoma County DEA agents results in the arrest of two men.

Carlos Castro, 23, of Oklahoma City and Jose Mendoza-Angulo, 26, of Las Vegas, Nevada, were arrested for allegedly operating a drug trafficking organization.

According to court documents, agents conducted surveillance on Mendoza-Angulo's Oklahoma City residence located at 6809 South Shartel Avenue on May 1. During the surveillance, agents saw Castro in a tan Ford Taurus stop at the residence for a short time. Later, during a traffic stop by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, a canine sniffed out approximately one pound of ICE/Methamphetamine in the car. Castro was taken into custody.

Court papers show agents then went to Castro's apartment at 2426 N.W. 39th Street in Oklahoma City where they saw a man walk up to Castro's 2002 blue Chevy Avalanche. DEA agents approached the man, identified as Mendoza-Angulo. Agents say he had $5,000 cash on him wrapped in a rubber band and what appeared to be a drug ledger.

During a search of Mendoza-Angulo's residence on Shartel Avenue, agents found 10 pounds of ICE/Methamphetamine, a large amount of packaging materials containing meth residue and digital scales.

Agents believe Castro and Mendoza-Anglo are co-conspirators in a drug trafficking organization. Both Castro and Mendoza-Angulo face charges of aggravated trafficking of controlled substance, conspiracy to aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance, receiving proceeds from illegal drug activity and maintaining a dwelling where a controlled substance is kept.
