The Oklahoma softball team came away with a series win over Texas Tech Saturday, knocking off the Red Raiders 4-1 thanks to a great start from Michelle Gascoigne and their potent offense.
Gascoigne (13-1) pitched a complete-game for the Sooners, giving up just one earned run on six hits while striking out eight, her only earned run came on back-to-back doubles to open the eighth inning. Cara Custer (18-6) was credited with a loss, giving up three earned runs on four hits in 3.1 innings pitched.
All of Oklahoma's runs came off of the bat of Lindsey Chamberlain, lifting them to the win. In the bottom of the first, Destinee Martinez reached on a throwing error and Chamberlain followed by going yard over the right field wall to give Oklahoma 2-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the third with one out on the board, Martinez belted a single and Chamberlain homered once again – this time to left center – to give the Sooners a four-run advantage.
Oklahoma will be back in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday to take on Oklahoma State in its second Bedlam gave of the year.
