The Oklahoma State Cowgirls thought they would have a favorable pitching matchup Sunday, but an early switch from Texas A&M paid off, allowing the Aggies to win 7-1 to win the weekend series.
TAMU starter Lindsey Sisk struggled from her second at-bat of the game, walking the bases loaded and giving up a single to Chelsea Garcia to score the game's first run. The Aggies pulled Sisk in favor of Mel Dumezich (17-7), which proved to be a good decision.
The junior pitched the final 6.2 innings for the Aggies, giving up just one hit and one walk, striking out six batters in her outing.
For Oklahoma State, Simone Freeman (6-6) started strong, but fell apart in the top of the third.
Freeman gave up a leadoff double to Sisk and two batters later gave up a single to Natalie Villareal, which extended to a double after a throwing error, also allowing Sisk to score and tie the game. Two batters later with runners on the corners, Cassie Tysarczyk singled to right field bringing Villareal home and take a 2-1 lead.
Nicole Morgan got in on the scoring, doubling to left field in the next at-bat, bringing Megan May home, and a fielding error in the next at-bat scored Tysarczyk and made it 4-1 in favor of the Aggies.
Texas A&M would tag on three more insurance runs to close the game out.
Oklahoma State will be back in action at 2 p.m. Wednesday, before heading to another mid-week matchup against Oklahoma.
