STILLWATER, Oklahoma – It took the Cowgirls a little while to get going at the plate, but luckily they had Simone Freeman to lean on in the meantime.
Freeman was impressive in the circle for Oklahoma State as it picked up a 4-0 shutout victory over Texas A&M on Saturday.
She allowed just three hits in 6.1 innings, giving her offense enough time to break the scoreless tie and come through in the sixth.
Freeman and A&M's Mel Dumezich, who also pitched Friday night, each held the opposing team scoreless through five innings.
But in the bottom of the sixth, Sammy Jo Diffendaffer reached first on a bad pitch, followed by Tamara Brown with a base hit up the middle.
Julie Ward stepped up with a grounder to drive home the first run of the game.
Chelsea Garcia added the second run for OSU on an RBI double, and pinch hitter Amy Graham drove home two more runs for the 4-0 lead.
Kat Espinosa came in to relieve Freeman and kept the Aggies scoreless for the remainder.
OSU improved its record to 17-14 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12. The 15th-ranked Aggies fell to 24-10, 4-2).
The Cowgirls tied the series at 1-1 and the deciding game will take place Sunday at noon at Cowgirl Stadium.
