The Oklahoma State Cowboys continued to struggle Sunday, falling to the Missouri Tigers 4-2 to drop the weekend series two games to one.
The game was tight late, with a Jarrett Higgins RBI single tying the game in the top of the seventh, but the Tigers snapped back in the bottom of the eighth.
With runners on second and third and one out on the board, Eric Garcia reached base on a fielder's choice, allowing Brannon Champagne to score and take a 3-2 lead. Scott Summerfield hit a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat, allowing Ben Turner to score and take a two-run advantage.
Missouri's Jake Walsh subbed in to close the game, getting two strikeouts and a pop-out to clinch the victory for the Tigers.
Josh Miles (2-0) was credited with a win for the outing, giving up no nits in his 1.1 innings of service, while Kyle Ottoson (1-3) received a loss for his work, giving up two earned runs on eight hits and striking out four in 7.1 innings of service.
The Cowboys will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Arkansas-Little Rock, before heading to Waco for a weekend series against Baylor.
