OG&E Employee Dies On The Job At Electrical Plant In Luther

A man working at an electrical plant in Luther has died after being severely burned by steam.

OG&E has confirmed that Gary Patterson, a plant mechanic at Redbud Power Plant suffered the fatal injury while on the job Tuesday morning. He had worked at the plant since 2005.

"While we are deeply shocked and saddened by Gary's death, our hearts and thoughts are particularly with his friends and family members who are suffering greatly at this moment," said Pete Delaney, OGE Energy Chairman, President and CEO.

Patterson was initially transported in critical condition to Edmond Memorial Hospital where he later died.

It's still unclear exactly what caused the accident. According to OG&E, Patterson was working on his normal assignment and with a machine he was familiar with at the time of the accident.
