Oklahoma Ambulance Company Drops Lawsuits Against 2

The Emergency Medical Services Authority has dismissed lawsuits against two area residents who were paying a utility fee for ambulance service.

The Tulsa World reported Sunday (http://bit.ly/A1Ngwd) that EMSA's attorneys cited "clerical error" in a motion to vacate a lawsuit against Robin Streveler. Tulsa County District Court records show EMSA sued Streveler last year and won a $1,230 default judgment against her for an ambulance ride.

Streveler says she agreed to pay $50 a month, but had to suspend payments when she went to Florida to care for her ailing mother. Her paycheck was garnished.

EMSA instituted a clause requiring patients to provide insurance information within 60 days or become responsible for the entire bill.

EMSA spokeswoman Kelli Bruer wouldn't comment directly on whether the agency is reviewing all accounts.
