A House Committee voted 13-2 for the bill that allows Oklahoma gun owners with a concealed carry permit to openly carry their weapons.
We've talked about Open Carry before here, but I believe it's closer to becoming law in Oklahoma than ever before.
Former Governor Henry vetoed it. Governor Fallin has indicated she would support "responsible open carry".
I have reservations about it. I just don't see the point of openly carrying a firearm.
I know it could intimidate people, make them nervous, but I don't think it's going to cause crime to go down as some do.
Here's what some of you are saying on my Facebook page.
Tim writes: "I think it would be a good thing. Certain crimes will decrease."
Maybe muggings of the people openly carrying.
Brady says: "My dad always told me if you carry a gun and your not a cop your just asking for trouble."
From Crystal: "The people that want their gun to be carried out in the open are the people that shouldn't have a license to begin with."
But Joyce counters: "When criminals are aware a person could defend themselves, they might just logically back off. I don't understand a philosophy that would say," I don't mind if you have a gun, I just don't want to see it."
We'll be watching it closely.
