NORMAN, Oklahoma – OU head coach Bob Stoops sat down with Dean Blevins for their weekly show following the Sooners' 44-10 blowout loss to Oklahoma State.
Stoops said OSU won in every facet of the game, including coaching and preparation. He said he felt the key going into the game would be who won the running game battle and who forced more turnovers, and the Cowboys convincingly won both of those categories.
Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith ran for more than 100 yards each for OSU, while the Sooners barely broke the 100-yard barrier as a team on 33 carries. OU also committed a total of five turnovers, including one fumble OSU returned for a touchdown and another the Cowboys returned to the 1-yard line.
With Ryan Broyles and Dominique Whaley out of the lineup with injuries, players did not step up to take their places. Stoops noted that his running backs were inconsistent and his receivers suffered too many drops.
Stoops said the team's problems in general showed a lack of discipline and toughness, particularly their issues with turnovers and penalties.
