NORMAN, Oklahoma – Lon Kruger is reeling in the recruits for next year.
Kruger announced that OU has received commitments from forwards Jarion Henry and C.J. Cole for the 2012-13 season.
Henry is a 6-9, 205-pound lefty originally from Dallas who has been playing ball at La Jolla Prep School in San Diego.
Rivals.com recruiting service ranks him as the 119th-best player in the country for his class. His father, Skeeter Henry played basketball for the Sooners from 1988-90 and was an All-Big Eight selection.
Jarion Henry averaged 14.8 points, 13.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game at Kimball High School in Dallas before taking the prep school route.
Kruger said Henry is a long, athletic, versatile player.
"He is a good mid-range shooter but can also score well around the rim," Kruger said. "He has a knack for keeping possessions alive with his offensive rebounding, and we also like his ability to pass, defend and run the floor. We look forward to using him in a variety of ways."
C.J. Cole is an in-state recruit from Sperry High School. He is a two-time All-State selection and averaged 22.9 points and 15.3 boards last season.
"C.J. is a strong and physical hard-nosed player who can score around the basket and really rebound," Kruger said. "He's an exceptionally smart young man who is also long on intangibles. He'll be a great leader for us on and off the court, and we're excited he's a Sooner."
Henry and Cole join guard Buddy Hield and Jelon Hornbeak as members of the OU recruiting class for 2012.
