Candlelight Vigil Planned For Bethany Teen Killed, Found In Bag

BETHANY, Oklahoma -- Friends and family members are grieving the death of a 19-year-old Carina Saunders. Bethany police identified the teenager as being the one who's body was found stuffed into a duffle bag and left in field outside a grocery store near N.W. 23rd Street and Rockwell Avenue.

A Facebook page called "Come Home Carina" was created shortly after the teen went missing. Many have posted their condolences on the page, including people who had never even met Carina. A friend of the family has also posted about a candlelight vigil being planned outside the Bethany Police Department Tuesday evening.

The family will hold a memorial service for Carina on Friday, October 21, at Mustang Nazarene Church at 700 E. State Highway 152.  The service begins at 11 a.m.

The Bethany Police Department has confirmed it's asked the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico, Virginia, to create a profile of Carina's killer.  The unit previously created a profile of the still unknown person who shot and killed two girls in Weleetka in 2008.

Oklahoma City police have released two reports related to the case. The first was a threatening text report filed by Carina's cousin on October 9. It claimed Carina had received several threatening text messages from someone.

Then a missing persons report was filed on October 10. It was filed by Carina's cousin and mother. The cousin reported she allowed Carina to stay at her house for about a week. She reported on September 28 she took Carina to I-40 and Rockwell Avenue to meet a 40-year-old man and that she got into a car with him. The car is described as an older model 1995 blue and gray blazer with 22 inch rims. She reports that is the last time she saw Carina.

Carina's mother also reported she filed a harassing text report in regards to text messages. Carina's mother stated in the report that she was terrified that something had happened to her daughter.

The family has declined to comment at this time, but said anyone wanting to help or contribute funds should do so to the Make A Wish Foundation in her name. Her aunt tells News 9 Carina would have wanted that.
