Four Teens Accused Of Breaking Into Putnam City North High School

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Four teenagers could face charges for breaking into Putnam City North High School early Wednesday morning.

The school is undergoing some construction. Oklahoma City police say around 2:30 a.m., one teen used some scaffolding set up outside the school to climb up the side of the building and break in through a skylight. Police say the teen then opened a window and let three more teens into the building.

Police say once the four young people were inside, they ransacked a classroom. Because they did not enter the school through a door, the alarm did not sound. However, surveillance cameras inside the school captured their actions. Putnam City security saw what was happening and contacted Oklahoma City police.

Officers arrived within a few minutes and caught three of the teens. A fourth ran to a nearby grocery store. Police found him there and took him into custody.

All four teens are being held at the Oklahoma County Juvenile Justice Center. It's not known yet what charges they may face. Police also have not said if the teens were students at the school.

School administrators and police plan to return to the school Wednesday morning to take a closer look at the damage. Classes are scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 18. School administrators say the damage appears to be minor and confined to one classroom, so the first day of school will not be affected.
