NORMAN, Oklahoma – The beginning of the high school football season is rapidly approaching, and News9 is traveling throughout the area to talk to coaches and players about the season.
Friday News9 stopped in Norman to talk to head coach Greg Nation, who discussed the team's high expectations for this season as well as the players who will need to fill vacant starting spots.
The Tigers were one of the state's biggest surprises last year and finished the regular season with an 8-2 record. Their only losses came against powerhouses Broken Arrow and Jenks, but Norman's season ended with a 51-44 loss to Owasso in a shootout in the first round of the playoffs.
Star running back Donovan Roberts and leading receiver George Kittle both will be back this season, making Norman one of the favorites from the west side of the state. It will begin play against cross-town rival Norman North on Sept. 1 at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
