LAWTON, Oklahoma -- Viewers wake up to Robin Marsh's smiling face every morning, and on Friday, we learned how she became the person we know and love to watch.
Robin grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma. She took us back to her hometown for News 9's Road Trip Oklahoma: Going Home series.
Our first stop was Robin's childhood home. Although she moved out long ago, the house is still a part of her family. Her nephew now lives there with his family, including Robin's beautiful great niece.
Robin then took us to Crosby Elementary School, the first open-space school in Oklahoma. Robin said this is where her road to television news began.
"I went here...and they needed someone to be, like, a reporter to tell visitors about all the neat things with an open-space school, and they chose me. So I kind of got my TV start here."
Robin was also a cheerleader at Crosby Elementary School, and she kept cheering through high school. She even joined the current cheerleading squad at her old high school and showed she still had the moves.
Robin also loved riding horses while she was growing up in Lawton. She said she spent countless hours at Bishop Riding Club with her three horses. And when she wasn't at the riding club, she could probably be found at her favorite teenage hangout, Wayne's Drive Inn.
