WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Orfevrerie and Meiji were no problem, but the word staffage proved too much for a young Piedmont speller.
Parker Strubhar, an eighth grade student from Middle School of Piedmont, was one of the semifinalists in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The competition ended for Parker Thursday morning when he misspelled the word staffage as "stiffage."
Parker will no doubt still be a spelling hero when he returns home to Piedmont. According to his biography, he loves to watch reality TV and sports, especially OU football and Thunder basketball.
