OKLAHOMA CITY -- A small plane slid off the runway at Sundance Airpark Thursday afternoon when the aircraft suffered an engine failure.
Oklahoma City police report the experienced pilot and his son were on board the single-engine Piper aircraft on a practice flight. The pilot had just taken off for the second in a series of touch-and-go-landings when the airplane experienced engine problems at about 15 feet of altitude.
The plane glided back to the runway and skidded off the left side of the pavement. The nose gear of the aircraft collapsed.
The pilot and his son were not hurt, and the plane did not suffer any significant damage.
The cause of the accident will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
