ENID, Oklahoma – Narcotics detectives served multiple search warrants and seized glass tubes common for drug use from four convenience stores.
Narcotics detectives from the Enid Police Department have been investigating businesses that have been selling "glass tubes" which are commonly used in the ingestion of illegal substances included crack cocaine and methamphetamine.
Search warrants were served at Petes on N. 30th, GCS on N. Grand, Maine Street Mini-Mart and D&T Convenience on E. Maine. Detectives seized numerous boxes of "glass tubes" some containing a novelty item.
"When you have literally hundreds and hundreds of these glass tubes hidden behind the sales counter but yet offer them for sale; there is really no doubt what these will be used for," Capt. Grassino said. "They serve no other legal or legitimate purpose. Why else would a business keep these items hidden?"
New legislation, effective November 1, 2010, said it's illegal for a retailer to offer for retail sale glass tubes as defined in Title 63 section 2-101.2.
Narcotics detectives said the investigation is ongoing and several arrest warrants will likely be issued for the employees who sold the items.
