Medical Examiner Refuses To Release Julie Mitchell's Autopsy

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The State Medical Examiner's office said it would not release an autopsy report on the Oklahoma City mother found beaten to death in her home.

Julie Mitchell's step-son reportedly found her body in a closet inside her upscale northwest Oklahoma City home in November.

On Wednesday, Interim Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Sibley refused News 9's open records request for documents and information regarding Mitchell's homicide.

"It is Dr Sibley's belief that the premature release of further details may interfere with the ongoing investigation and subsequent prosecution," said M.E. spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard.

Oklahoma City police said they have taken DNA samples and interviewed numerous people in the case, but investigators have still not named any suspects or persons of interest.

Police said they may or may not analyze the DNA samples but will hold them as evidence throughout the investigation.

Police said Mitchell's husband, Teddy, was in Arizona when she was killed. Teddy Mitchell is a well-known bookie and gambler.
