EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Police in Edmond hoped surveillance video and text messages would lead them to the crook that burglarized a convenience store, stealing more than $16,000 in cigarettes and prying open an ATM.
The burglar broke in through the back door of the EZ Shop and Go Shell Station near West 15th Street and South Santa Fe on August 12. The burglar stole 325 cartons of cigarettes worth $50 each.
They also broke into an ATM, took all the money from the machine then swiped $300 from the cash register. In all, they made off with more than $18,000 in cash and merchandise.
The burglars tried to dismantle the alarm and camera system by cutting a series of cables, but police were able to get video of the heist.
Police said anyone with information on the crime should anonymously text tips to the tip hotline at 405-625-8398.
