ENID, Oklahoma -- An Enid businessman was critically injured after a fireworks accident.
Police said 40-year-old T.J. Silver was trying to a fuse Sunday morning when the firework blew up in his face.
Garfield County Undersheriff Jerry Niles said for some reason, the fuse on the firework was short, which is why authorities believe it ignited prematurely.
"We don't know the extent of what was going on. We just know this was an accident. We're treating it as such," Niles said.
Silver was treated at O.U. Medical Center and had to undergo reconstructive surgery.
Silver owns a local welding shop and is co-owner of a motorcycle shop in Enid.
