MANGUM, Oklahoma -- A southwestern Oklahoma sheriff is now putting county jail inmates in pink jumpsuits. Hot pink.
Greer County Sheriff Devin Huckabay said the new suits are replacing the faded and tattered orange jumpsuits worn in the past.
Huckabay said one reason for the choice of color is to provide incentives for people not to break the law and wind up in jail. He says the male inmates "don't like wearing them."
He said another consideration is that inmates in pink are easier to keep track of and to manage when working on community projects or being transferred.
Inmates in the Cleveland County Jail have been wearing pink tops and striped pants since April 2009.
