OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police are looking for two violent robbers after they were caught on surveillance footage assaulting a 9-year-old girl and shoving guns into their victims' faces.
Like any 9-year-old, Cynthia Choi was full of life and from store surveillance video inside her dad's cell phone store near S.W. 44th Street and May Avenue, it's easy to see just how happy she was, but all that quickly changed when two robbers rushed inside.
"It's obviously traumatic to watch," said Oklahoma City Police Sgt Jennifer Wardlow.
The surveillance video of the robbery is even traumatic for police to watch because the footage shows the 9-year-old, who was in the bathroom, come out to see her dad being attacked. The robbers then drag the girl across the floor by her hair and hold a gun directly into her face.
"It's a bad enough crime to come in and produce hand guns and place innocent peoples' lives in danger, but to involve a child is especially tragic to watch," Wardlow said.
The two suspects were able to get away, and their next known hit, police said they believe, was at a Dollar General near S.E. 89th Street and Sooner Road two days later.
Police said surveillance video at the Dollar General showed two people wearing the same clothing and robbing the employees at gun point. The video also shows one of the suspects pointing a gun at the teller's face. Meanwhile, the other employee fearing for her life lay frozen on the floor.
"We're lucky in this case that no one was seriously injured," Wardlow said. "There's always the possibility they could strike again. That's why we want to get them identified. Get them off the street so they can't do it again."
As for the 9-year-old girl, her mother said she is back in school but is still very traumatized by what happened. Her father suffered minor injuries in the attack.
Anyone with information about either one of the robberies should call crime stoppers at 405-235-7300.
