OKLAHOMA CITY – Flu shots and hand sanitizer are in high demand and Oklahomans try to protect themselves from the flu.
Several people lined up for shots Tuesday morning at an Oklahoma County Health Department vaccination clinic. The shots are available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., or while supplies last, Tuesday at the Midwest City Community Center, 100 N Midwest Blvd. in Midwest City.
Hospitals also are taking precautions to protect people form the flu.
Some hospitals in Oklahoma are placing restrictions on younger visitors in an effort to protect patients from the flu -- including H1N1.
Edmond Medical Center says most children younger than 18 are not allowed in the hospital unless they're a patient. A child with an immediate family member hospitalized would be allowed inside and asked to wear a face mask.
University of Oklahoma Medical Center spokesman Allen Poston says similar restrictions will begin Thursday at both the Medical Center and The Children's Hospital.
Officials say other hospitals are posting signs asking visitors to stay away if they have flu-like symptoms.
