NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The brother of former Oklahoma quarterback Nate Hybl has been named as the Sooners' new golf coach.

Athletic director Joe Castiglione on Monday announced the hiring of Ryan Hybl, who has been an assistant at Georgia, where he once was an All-America player for the Bulldogs.

Georgia posted five straight top-10 finishes in the NCAA tournament with Hybl on the Bulldogs' staff and won Southeastern Conference titles in 2006 and 2009. Hybl also played professionally before retiring earlier this season after suffering an elbow injury.

Hybl says he is now completely focused on coaching and says the potential of the Oklahoma program is exciting. He says the Sooners' brand will appeal across the nation.
