High waters kill two, close roads

Heavy rains and thunderstorms are blamed for two deaths and several road closures.

An Apache woman's car hydroplaned as she drove through heavy rain on Highway 62 in Caddo County, said police.  The vehicle hit a power pole and a tree, said officials. The woman was found dead at the scene.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 46-year-old Bonny Wooley of McAlester was killed on Thursday when her car went off a wet road and hit a tree.

Major road closings include:

ODOT reports about 15,500 homes and businesses across the state are without electric service.

The town of Muldrow, in Sequoyah County near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border, saw major flooding and damage.  There are reports of trees and power lines down, hail damage to cars and also severe flooding as well. 

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation reports several road closings because of high water resulting from recent heavy rain. Motorists are advised against driving into water on roadways.
