Investigators are working to determine whether two homicides in northwest Oklahoma City may be connected. The timeline and location of the murders has them concerned.
Officers said the timing and location is startling to say the least. The two murders are within two days and not even a block apart.
The first body was discovered around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, a 75-year-old man identified as Richard Johnson.
Christie Johnson lives across the street from the victim. She said police swarmed the area, looking for clues.
"They were all blocked all up and down this street to about right there," Johnson said. "We couldn't drive out and we couldn't back out the driveway and go nowhere."
Wednesday morning, there was a similar scene at the corner of 28 Street and Penn Avenue after authorities found the body of a woman in an alley.
Oklahoma City Police Sergeant, Gary Knight, also questions the timing and possible connection.
"They're less than 24 hours apart and they're less than a block apart, but right now there's no evidence that points to any relation to the two homicides," Knight said. That's something that investigators are certainly looking at any other leads in the case or any other piece of evidence."
Johnson, meanwhile, is looking to move out of the area.
"I can't even go outside and enjoy myself because of what I'm living around," Johnson said.
So far, there have been no arrests. Authorities have not released the name of the second victim or the manner of death in either of the homicides.
If you have any information on these homicides, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 235-7300.
