Officers with the Oklahoma City Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 123 (OKC FOP) surprised three single mothers in Oklahoma City for Valentine’s Day.
“We wanted to give a special treat those who hold our communities together and often don’t get appreciated like they should – single mothers.” said Mark Nelson, vice president of OKC Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 123.
Here's a video of the heart-warming surprises:
According to the FOP, officers asked the public through social media to nominate their favorite single mom to receive a surprise. Three lucky winners received a dozen red roses from Tony Floss Flowers, Tacori earrings donated by Diamonds Direct, and a gift certificate for dinner at Picasso Café.
“I’ve got kids and I’ve always done what I had to do to take care of them because that’s what I’m supposed to do. I’ve tried to set a good example by showing them how important it is to help others. I don’t feel like I’ve done anything extraordinary,” said Amy Williams, one of the recipients.
FOP members said they quickly assured Williams is a great role model, and thanked her for making their jobs as police officers easier.
