Nicolas Faught, 15, had a bright future ahead of him.

He was only a freshman, and played both football and baseball at Lexington High School.

Monday counselors were on hand at the campus to help students cope with his passing.

But now detectives with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office must determine if anyone will be held accountable for his death.

“It's too early to speculate at this point,” said Meghan McCormick with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office.

McCormick said they received a 911 call from a home located in the 16000 block of Pottawatomie Road just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday and that it was a teenager who called.

“They found him in a bathroom unconscious, determined he wasn't breathing and immediately called 911,” said McCormick.

Neighbors did not want to go on camera but confirmed there was a party at the property Saturday night, and there were more than a dozen teenagers in attendance. They said it was one of many parties that has taken place out here in the past year. Beer cans still littered the backyard, and one of the things detectives will determine if there were any adults present during this party and if they will face any charges.

“They are going to process the evidence and make sure if someone was responsible for this they will be held accountable,” said McCormick.

It will be up to the medical examiner's office to determine the cause and manner of death but the office spokesperson confirmed they are doing a toxicology test.

News 9 went by the family's home Monday afternoon, but no one was willing to talk on camera.

For now they are dealing with their loss privately as they wait to hear from the ME about what lead to the death of Nicolas Faught.

This was the second death involving a Lexington High School student this month.

Two weeks ago another student was killed in a car accident along I-35.
