Severe Storms Possible This Week In Oklahoma

As you have undoubtedly heard by now, we have a chance of storms this week. Monday night, though, there's only a very slim chance. On Tuesday the best chance will be EAST of our viewing area.

Wednesday, that's when a sizable chunk of real estate has a good chance of storms.

Monday night a few storms are going to try to fire in far northwestern Oklahoma, but most, if not all, stay dry. Lows will stay mild. Northeast Oklahoma may see a few showers and storms overnight into early Tuesday morning.

Tuesday, we'll have a front push through the state, but the best chance for storms will be in far eastern Oklahoma. These storms could be strong to severe, but will likely stay well east of our viewing area.

Highs on Tuesday will easily make it into the 80s across most of the state with strong southwest winds.

Wednesday is the day we're watching VERY carefully. Timing is the biggest question mark at this point. Does the dryline fire storms first? If so, what time? Does the cold front overtake the dryline and fire a line of storms? Probably, but when? We're still fine tuning the forecast as we look at the data.

I'm pretty confident we see storms through at least central and southern Oklahoma. The tornado threat looks very low at this point. However, the threat for hail and wind look good once storms get going. The way it looks right now, the most likely time will be after 4 - 5 p.m. But stay tuned, we'll continue to tweak this forecast.

It'll be cooler on Thursday and Friday behind Wednesday's front and this weekend looks good too.
