Altus runner Will McCaskill is getting closer to his dream of becoming an Olympic Champion. He has qualified for the U.S. National Indoor Championships in Boston this weekend.
Just this fall, Will McCaskill was training on his old junior high track in Altus Oklahoma.

Now after five months at the World Athletic Center, he's ready to take on some of the world's fastest runners.
“Training is going very well, everything is great, falling into place. It's a blessing definitely,” said Will on Wednesday as he was getting ready to leave. “I'll be running against some of the best 600 meter runners in the United States, I'm standing at 15th in the United States in the ¼ right now so this race potentially could change my life.”
All this made possible after some Altus business leaders put together a video worthy of a Nike ad and started a fundraising campaign. The money raised allowed Will to start training full time.
He frequently posts updates on Facebook so the folks back home can see their investment is paying off. He says he's getting faster.
“Oh yea, way faster. Ten times faster,” said Will grinning widely.
He's closing in on his goal of the 2016 Olympics. And the only way he's looking back is to see who's in second place.
“I'm in it to win it, that's the only thing I want to do. I just want to win.”
Will does have a GoFund Me site to help with his expenses.
The Championships will be televised on another network this weekend. We'll let you know how Will does. You can also follow his progress on Facebook.
