Moore police have made an arrest in a deadly drive-by shooting over the weekend that killed a 14-year-old girl. Police said they arrested 18-year-old Cody Delano of Lexington on a murder complaint late Monday.

Police said the shooting was not random, but they also said they do not believe the victim, 14-year-old Railena Rhodes, was the intended target.

At least a dozen bullets pierced the home in the 100 block of SE 2nd Street in Moore.

A pink sign in front of the house shows condolences from Rhodes' friends.

“We made a slideshow for her and every time we watch it and we listen to Tears in Heaven, I start crying,” said Christa Davis, Rhodes' cousin.

The family said they are glad police made an arrest.

“I think they need to just stay in jail for the rest of their life,” Davis explained.  “It's not fair, she didn't deserve to go like that,” she added.

The 911 call came in around 3:45 a.m. Saturday from the house, which belongs to Rhodes' mom.

There was small house party and police said Rhodes was hit in the neck with one of the bullets.

“They pretty much emptied whatever weapon they had out,” said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis with Moore police.  “There were several casings and they hit the house several times,” he added.

Rhodes did not live at her mom's home.

She was just there for the night.

“I don't think she was the target, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, very unfortunate victim,” Sgt. Lewis told News 9.

Police said they have had various calls in the past about the house, some were drug-related calls and others were for wild parties.

Police have not released details about what lead them to arrest Delano, only that this investigation is ongoing to piece together the exact events that led to this crime.

“We are going to get justice for my cousin,” said Davis.

Davis said the family is planning for a funeral service on Saturday, Dec. 6 for Rhodes.
