Police Release Name Of Minco Officer Stabbed During Struggle

Minco Police Captain Brian Hau is at home recovering after being stabbed during a struggle with a man who allegedly threatened to burn down his house with his family inside.

Authorities were called Tuesday to Russell Mason's house on Highway 37 just west of Tuttle. Capt. Hau was first to arrive on the scene. Investigators say when Hau confronted Mason, the suspect allegedly stabbed the officer in the head and shoulder.

The police officer first used his Taser to fend off the suspect and eventually pulled his weapon and shot Mason in the leg.

Captain Hau is a veteran officer. He has been with the Minco Police Department for two years.
