Traffic is backed up Monday morning in the Turner Falls area due to several accidents on slick, hazardous roads on Interstate 35.
Just a light dust of snow fell overnight in southern Oklahoma, but the freezing temperatures created patches of black ice on bridges and overpasses in the Arbuckle mountains. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, there were 25 to 40 crashes on I-35 in the Davis and Ardmore areas. There was also at least one fatal crash in Love County. In Pontotoc County, a fire truck was involved in an accident while responding to another crash.
Due to the slick roads and crashes, traffic is backed up for miles. OHP is encouraging drivers to slow down and keep as much distance between vehicles as possible.
