Volunteers with the American Red Cross will leave Oklahoma Monday morning to help communities in Alabama that may be affected by Tropical Storm Isaac.
Four Red Cross volunteers from Oklahoma are already in Florida helping with operations there.
Volunteers will be in charge of opening shelters, putting relief supplies in place, and serving hot meals to first responders and anyone who may be displaced by the storm.
The Red Cross has a new hurricane phone application and a shelter tracking app that can be downloaded for free on smart phones.
You can also go to www.redcross.org to learn more about volunteer opportunities and how to donate to Red Cross Disaster Relief.
Volunteers are also likely going to be working with groups such as the Salvation Army and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief to help affected communities. Utility and power companies also have a history of sending crews to the coast following a storm to help with recovery efforts.
